
KOMISAREK OUT FOR A MONTH. Montreal defenseman Mike Komisarek of West Islip will be sidelined at least a month because of an upper-body injury, Canadiens coach Guy Carbonneau said. The injury is believed to be to the right elbow. Komisarek was hurt in a fight with Boston's Milan Lucic on Nov. 13 . . . Dallas Stars captain Brenden Morrow will miss the rest of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

CURLIN TO STAND AT LANE'S END. Reigning Horse of the Year Curlin will stand at stud next year at Lane's End, a Kentucky horse farm owned by former U.S. ambassador to Britain Will Farrish. Curlin will command a stud fee of $75,000, $10,000 more than the fee for Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner Big Brown.
