The Mavericks owner admits to having a verbal confrontation with Lydia Moore, mother of the Nuggets forward, after the contentious ending to Game 3 in Dallas on Saturday night.
He told the Denver Post that as he passed her on the way into the tunnel, a fan yelled out that the Denver Nuggets were "thugs" and that he told her, "That includes your son."
Martin's agent offers a different version of events, saying that Cuban spotted her and said, "Your son is a punk," unprovoked.
"The situation on the floor postgame is being reviewed," NBA spokesman Tim Frank told the Post.
The Nuggets won Game 3, 106-105, after a disputed non-call in the closing seconds allowed Carmelo Anthony to hit a game-winning 3-pointer and give the Nuggets a 3-0 series lead. The NBA has since admitted a foul should have been called.
Cuban was angry about the play and had the exchange with Moore as he stormed off the court. He says that this isn't the first time the two have met, alleging Moore had made trash-talk type comments to him after an earlier Nuggets victory.
"Don't say nothing to my kids or my family," Martin told the Denver Post on Monday. "If you got something to say, say it to me. But I'm going to take care of it. I'm not going to do the whole media thing, back and forth. That's his thing. I'm more of a face-to-face type of dude."
"So whenever the opportunity presents itself, then I will address it. But I got a game to go win. At some point I will, but I got a game to go win, first and foremost. So that's my focus and concentration right now."
Martin is known as a physical player and was assessed a $25,000 fine for a hard foul on Dallas star Dirk Nowitzki in Game 1.
