Los Angeles Clippers swingman Ricky Davis was suspended five games Monday for violating terms of the NBA's drug program.
The suspension begins tonight when the Clippers face Sacramento. He will be eligible to return for the Jan. 8 game at San Antonio. Davis, 29, signed as an unrestricted free agent after averaging 13.8 points in 82 games for Miami last season. He also has played for Charlotte, Cleveland, Boston and the Timberwolves.
Nets demote Williams: New Jersey assigned former first-round draft pick Sean Williams to the Colorado 14ers of the NBA Development League.
The 6-foot-10 second-year center, drafted No. 17 overall in 2007, averaged 1.6 points and 2.1 rebounds in 11 minutes a game this season.
