New Jersey (6-7) entered the trip having won two in a row and four of its last five before falling 120-93 to the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night.

The Nets had their worst offensive night on the road, shooting 34.5 percent and 5-for-24 from 3-point range against the team with the NBA's best record.

"We're not going to win many games shooting the way we did and then compounding that with poor defense," said Nets coach Lawrence Frank.

Devin Harris scored 21 points with six assists, Brook Lopez had 17 with 10 rebounds and Vince Carter added 14 for New Jersey, which fell to 3-3 on the road, where it is allowing 118.0 points in its last three contests.

"We did not play like the Nets," Harris said. "The ball was not moving and we took bad shots. I can put that on myself, because I started that trend."

After this contest, New Jersey visits Utah and Phoenix on consecutive nights this weekend.

The Nets, who could again be without Stromile Swift (back) and Josh Boone (bruised left ankle) in this game, likely won't have an easy time trying to bounce back while going for their first victory in Sacramento since winning 87-73 on Nov. 30, 1997. New Jersey is giving up 110.0 points per contest in its last nine trips against the Kings, who won 128-94 at home on Jan. 22 in the most recent meeting between the teams.

Sacramento (5-11), however, has lost four in a row at home since opening the season with three straight victories there.

Coming off his second-lowest scoring night of the season, Carter is averaging 23.5 points, but has just 29 total in his last two games at Sacramento.

Harris is averaging 25.8 points and 7.2 assists in his last six games overall since missing three with a sprained left ankle.

The Kings (5-11) hope their recent home success against New Jersey will continue and help end their current slide. Sacramento lost 91-90 at Portland on Monday.

"You play hard and the wins are going to come, you've just got to believe," Kings guard Beno Udrih said.

John Salmons led Sacramento with 20 points, while Brad Miller added 18 and Udrih had 17 for Sacramento, which rallied to lead by four early in the fourth quarter, but couldn't hang on Monday.

"You always got to be happy the way you fight back, if you fight back...it's just, we've been doing that all year, we just got to start finishing games," said Salmons, who's averaging a team-leading 18.5 points on the season.
