New Jersey Nets Getting Inside 2008-12-13
The Nets are a .700 road team, so one story line Saturday in Chicago will center on whether they can continue their solid play away from home, where they have been a disaster. That's one plotline. But it's not the only one.

For the Nets, all eyes will be on Vince Carter, who will seek to rebound from the worst shooting night of his professional career.

Carter declined comment to the media Friday after suffering through an 0-for-13 travesty in the Nets' 22-point loss to Toronto. It was the first time he played as many as 10 minutes without a field goal. So how Carter and the Nets respond from a dismal performance is the key for New Jersey.

"We're going to bounce back. I'm not too worried about him. As a team, we need to figure out how to make these shots and how to make them more consistently," said guard Devin Harris, who will hold center stage in one of Saturday's more intriguing matchups as he battles No. 1 overall draft pick Derrick Rose head-to-head. Rose had 12 points and 11 assists but the Bulls (10-12) lost in Memphis Friday. The Bulls have been the reverse of the Nets this season -- that is, a normal NBA team: Good at home, struggling on the road. Chicago has won seven of 10 games on its home court but is just 3-9 on the road.

RAPTORS 101, NETS 79: The worst shooting game of Vince Carter's career led to the worst scoring and shooting night of the season for the Nets. Carter went 0-of-13 -- only twice before had he failed ever to get a field goal -- but he played just seven minutes total in those two games. The Nets shot .313 -- their starters were 15-of-54 -- and the Raptors rolled up a 61-45 second half. Devin Harris and Yi Jianlian scored 14 each for the Nets. Chris Bosh led Toronto with 18 points.
