New Jersey Nets Getting Inside 2009-11-02

New Jersey Nets Getting Inside 2009-11-02Already, the Nets have experienced two rotation injuries, offensive inconsistencies throughout the lineup and defensive breakdowns that have scorers on opposing teams salivating in anticipation.

And the Nets are just getting out of October. Three games -- just three games -- have produced a half season's worth of worries and concerns.

"Defensively, we've got to keep growing as a unit and get comfortable with each other and different rotations and matchups that are out there," offered Courtney Lee.

Well, defensively, they've got to do something. While blowing a 16-point lead in the final seven minutes of opening night, the Nets vapor-locked offensively but also simply could not get stops. In their home opener, the offense wilted in the face of Dwight Howard of the Magic ruling inside. Then Saturday at Washington, the Nets simply gave an embarrassing defensive effort, one that was described as "pitiful" and "dismal" by coach Lawrence Frank.

So now in Game 4, they journey to Charlotte Monday to take on the Bobcats looking for their first victory of the season. As the home of the Bobcats, Charlotte has been good to the Nets, who hold a 14-4 all-time record against the 'Cats -- and that includes an 8-1 record in Charlotte.

The Bobcats are 1-2, having lost on the road to two mega-powers, Boston and Cleveland, while scoring 59 and 79 points, respectively. Their win came at home, in overtime, with 102 points put up against the Knicks.

WIZARDS 123, NETS 104: This was as bad a defensive effort as the Nets could give. The Wizards celebrated their home opener by sending the Nets into defensive breakdown after breakdown. Washington, minus Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison, still shot .615 and enjoyed halves of 62 and 61 points. The Nets, minus Devin Harris, were overwhelmed in all areas. Chris Douglas-Roberts scored 25 points to lead the losing effort.
