New Jersey Nets Getting Inside 2009-12-11

New Jersey Nets Getting Inside 2009-12-11They are still getting used to a new coach, essentially new players as so many were injured and out for so long. But the one thing the Nets are desperately trying to avoid is getting too used to losing. And at 2-20, they're not really doing that swell of a job at it.

"I think just as winning can become a habit, so too can losing," said interim coach Kiki Vandeweghe, who is 2-2 since taking over for the previous interim coach, Tom Barrise, who handled two games after Lawrence Frank was fired after an 0-16 start. "So we're trying to establish good habits.

"Confidence, attitude is everything. It really is," Vandeweghe continued. "So it's the way you approach it, the way you execute it your attitude when you're playing, that's what's going to get you going."

Well, the Nets will need a little more than attitude when they head out for a three-game road trip that starts in Indiana and continues through Atlanta and Cleveland as the Nets complete a segment of the schedule that has five games out of six away from New Jersey.

They face the Pacers Friday. Indiana already owns a victory over the Nets -- but the Pacers will be without Danny Granger (foot), who scored 22 in Indy's 91-83 triumph in New Jersey on Nov. 17.

WARRIORS 105 NETS 89: The main message on the Nets' pre-game board was simple: "Protect the ball." They didn't. So they lost. Aiming for a second straight victory, the Nets shot themselves in both feet with a 38-21 second quarter where they committed seven of their 22 turnovers. The sloppiness led to a 20-point deficit which the Nets cut to five but could not overcome. Brook Lopez scored 21 and Devin Harris had 19 points for the Nets.
