--Forward/guard Chris Douglas-Roberts was one of coach Lawrence Frank's strongest supporters and remained so even after Frank was fired. "I'm in his corner, period," Douglas-Roberts said last week. And shortly after it became official that Frank was the Nets' former head coach in Los Angeles Sunday, Douglas-Roberts posted a message on his Twitter account.
"Respect to Lawrence Frank. He came in every day as positive as he could. I will always remember him as the Coach who gave me my first shot," Douglas-Roberts said.
--The Nets' loss to the Lakers Sunday truly was a landmark, though a negative one, for the franchise.
Not only was it their 17th straight to start the season, equaling the worst beginning of all time, it also established a franchise record as the longest losing streak. The Nets had dropped 16 straight in 1977-78.
Additionally, the defeat gave the Nets an 0-14 November, making it their worst month ever without a win. The worst winless month before this was an 0-10 April that closed 1999-2000. In that 1977-78 season losing streak, they lost the final 14 games in January -- but they had opened that month with a win.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "We're friends. When you're part of a sports team, you're with that person every day, 24 hours a day. You're with them more than you're with your own kids. It's an emotional thing." -- Nets interim coach Tom Barrise, discussing his relationship with Lawrence Frank, who was fired Sunday.
