--There is a lot of speculation regarding the fate of G Vince Carter who has $33.6 million due him over the next two years. Many have speculated the Nets will try to dump the contract. Perhaps. But where? It is a very hard number to move, and the Nets could do worse than bringing back a guy who averaged 20.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.7 assists. Especially when the guy is on record as wanting to come back.
"Absolutely," Carter said when asked about his desire to return. "I'd love to finish what we started. I think we've built some good things together. "We're just a couple of pieces away," Carter added. "With the young guys (developing) we're going to be a pretty darn good team."
--The Nets' principal owner, Bruce Ratner, endorsed coach Lawrence Frank at the team's final home game. But Ratner stressed that the decision ultimately will be made by his basketball "experts," team president Rod Thorn and G.M. Kiki Vandeweghe. On April 29, the Nets announced that Frank will return next season.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "The responsibility we have to each other, some things we have to get better at, whether it's defensively, whether it's commitment. In some of the games we could have won, what we could have done different. Understanding all 82 games count, that they all add up. Knowing there's such a fine line between being an average to good to outstanding team." -- Coach Lawrence Frank, discussing the lessons learned by his youthful Nets this season.
