--The 2008-09 schedule has some intriguing dates for the Nets, including Jason Kidd's first game in New Jersey since his trade to Dallas last February.
Kidd and the Mavs invade New Jersey on Friday, Dec. 19 for Kidd's second game against the Nets since the trade -- he faced them in Dallas last season. And Richard Jefferson gets his chances at his former team when the Bucks play at New Jersey Tuesday, Feb. 3 and Monday, Mar. 30. --The Nets' expected move to Brooklyn may come later than expected. According to comments made by owner Bruce Ratner to shareholders at the annual meeting of the parent group Forest City Enterprises in June, the arena might not be ready for 2010-2011 as hoped.
"Our hope," Ratner said at the meeting in comments publicized by the watchdog Atlantic Yards Report group, "is that we can... close the transaction by the end of the year. And then it will be about two and a half years to build our arena."
By that timetable, the arena would not be ready until summer, 2011.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "Everyone wants to play on a championship team. So our mentality is to come out and play like champions and play like we're playing to win a championship." -- G Vince Carter, on the necessary mentality of a re-made Nets team that will have low expectations.
