--G Vince Carter moved past Stephon Marbury (1,398) and into sixth place on the Nets' all-time assist list when he added five Tuesday night. Carter has 1,401 assists as a Net. Next on the list is Micheal Ray Richardson at 1,410. The Nets' all-time leader is Jason Kidd with 4,620.

--G Devin Harris admits that he is still getting acclimated to the Nets offense and wants to start being more assertive. "Sometimes, I'm a little stagnant. Especially when (Vince Carter) goes to his isolation game I'm a little bit more of an off-the-ball shooter perhaps. I'm going to try to get to a little more pick-and-rolls and take a little more responsibility in the play-calling."

--F Stromile Swift might be only a week away from returning to practice. Swift, out since bruising his lower back in a practice fall Oct. 17, has been doing work on the treadmill and in the pool and on Tuesday began doing some shooting. "This is the first time I've been on the court, been able to move around a lot," Swift said. "I'm still feeling it, but it's coming along every day. I thought something was maybe fractured or something. But the X-rays came back negative. It was a scary fall."

--F Yi Jianlian responded well from a dreadful scoreless, 0-of-4 shooting game Saturday when he scored 15 points and grabbed 8 rebounds Tuesday in a blowout loss to Phoenix. He shot 5-of-14.

MEDICAL WATCH:

--F Trenton Hassell (viral infection) missed his third game Tuesday and is out indefinitely.

--F Stromile Swift (bruised lower back) has been inactive since taking a nasty fall in practice on Oct. 17. He is doing light work. There is no word on when he will return.

--G Vince Carter played Tuesday with a slight bandage on his left hand. He banged his left middle knuckle Saturday. X-rays were negative.
