New Jersey Nets Roster Report 2008-11-14

New Jersey Nets Roster Report 2008-11-14
--F/C Sean Williams and F Ryan Anderson both have been out of the rotation but both played Wednesday. It is not known if the Nets will stay with them or if they were a one-game quick fix.

ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Keyon Dooling, Shooting guard Vince Carter, Small forward Bobby Simmons, Power forward Yi Jianlian, Center Josh Boone. Bench -- Forward Jarvis Hayes, Center Brook Lopez, Forward Eduardo Najera, Forward Trenton Hassell. PLAYER NOTES:

--C Josh Boone has been working extra on his free throw shooting with GM Kiki Vandeweghe. Despite 80 percent numbers at practice, Boone was shooting .267 after six games. All around, the insistence is that the problem is not mechanical.

"It's not really the mechanics, it's just trust. I'm thinking a little too much about it during games," Boone said. "It's not like I can't shoot them. It's just a matter of doing the same thing in games and trusting I'm going to make the shots. Mechanically, there's nothing wrong. It's mental."

--F Yi Jianlian has developed a consistency the Nets adore in an area they didn't really expect: rebounding. Yi had posted back-to-back double-figure games entering Wednesday against the Pacers when he grabbed eight more.

"You shoot, sometimes you make, sometimes you miss but rebounding is something you can focus on every night. It's something you can work on and control it," Yi said.

--G Keyon Dooling, filling in for the injured Devin Harris as the starting point guard, put up good statistics in the three games: 15.0 points, 4.0 assists. He said the starts helped him get conditioning and a feel back after he missed so much of pre-season with an ankle injury. Dooling said he was "not very good" before the starts which helped him "find a rhythm. Coming off the bench, you don't necessarily have that luxury. If you don't play well, you can come out and not get back in the game."

MEDICAL WATCH:

--G Chris Douglas-Roberts has been out for more than one week with a sprained right knee. Officially, it's a Grade I sprain of the medial collateral ligament. At the time of his injury, the team said he would be out for 2-4 weeks.

--F Stromile Swift (bruised lower back) has been inactive since taking a nasty fall in practice on Oct. 17. He is doing light work. There is no word on when he will return.

--G Devin Harris missed his third straight game with a sprained left ankle Wednesday. He is day-to-day, but very possibly could return for Friday's home game as well.
