New Jersey Nets Roster Report 2009-11-08

New Jersey Nets Roster Report 2009-11-08ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Rafer Alston, Shooting guard Trenton Hassell, Small forward Bobby Simmons, Power forward Josh Boone, Center Brook Lopez. Bench -- Forward Eduardo Najera, Guard Terrence Williams, Center Sean Williams.

--G Courtney Lee insisted he could have played Saturday but was held out strictly as a precaution against the Celtics. Lee suffered a strained left groin Friday in Philadelphia and expects to be ready for the rematch with the Sixers Wednesday in New Jersey. "I'm playing Wednesday. I'm going. I'm a young guy. I heal like a mule. All I need is rest," Lee said.

--F Josh Boone got his first start of the season Saturday when coach Lawrence Frank went with a big lineup against the Celtics. With just eight players, Frank had few options but Boone rewarded the move with a strong defensive effort against Kevin Garnett and a season-high 12 rebounds.

--G Rafer Alston, originally penciled in as the third point guard, started his fifth straight game Saturday. And for the second straight night, he logged over 40 minutes. He played 40 in Philadelphia Friday, 44 against the Celtics Saturday. "I'm feeling great. I'm in great shape to do it. I'm glad and thankful for it. Too many turnovers from me, though," said Alston, who had a season-high 20 points but committed six turnovers.

--G Courtney Lee left Friday's game early in the third quarter with a left groin strain and sat Saturday. He could play Wednesday.

--F Chris Douglas-Roberts is day-to-day after being diagnosed with swine flu. He did not play Friday or Saturday but could return Wednesday against Philadelphia.

--F Yi Jianlian is out with a sprained right knee. He is expected to miss anywhere from three-to-five weeks.

--G Devin Harris missed his fifth straight game Saturday with a strained right groin. Harris said this week he should be out longer than anticipated, perhaps another two weeks.

--F Jarvis Hayes remains out having left the season opener after just 2:20 with a left hamstring injury. Hayes is expected out for another week.

--G Keyon Dooling (hip surgery rehab) underwent an arthroscopic procedure after last season. He is working his way back and has targeted mid-to-late November for his return.

--F/C Tony Battie underwent an MRI on his sore right knee last week and no structural damage was found. There is no timetable for a return.
